 Supply Chain Assessment

To operate your business at peak performance, your supply chain must continue to adapt to the changing business demands by leveraging supply chain improvement on emerging or improved supply chain technologies. You must take advantage of these supply chain technologies to have any chance of performing at peak efficiency. Continuous improvement programs are an active part of the top performing supply chain within industry verticals. As some organisations have a methodical and systematic approach to support these continuous improvement programs, other companies tend to rely on “This is how we have always done it” or “If it’s not broke, don’t fix it”. This approach is based on individual perceptions or operational groups that have experienced change, though not in a positive way.

Our supply chain consulting firm has actively undertaken supply chain assessments for a range of organisations in numerous industry sectors. Our review frequency has enabled our consulting firm to stay close to the actual performance levels of leading organisations within their own vertical. These supply chain assessment outcomes provide a solid understanding of which core issues are impacting these organisations and what continuous improvement programs are being implemented to strive towards best practice.

Our supply chain assessment consists of 3 components:

Appraisal phase

Covers an overview of your organization based on discussions with your project lead or project team. We cover the usual questions to really get your perspective on the current state of your supply chain, what issues you feel need to be addressed and the direction you wish to move your organization. Its establishing the terms of reference for the supply chain assessment.

Review phase

A review phase is really about fact finding and building an awareness of either a part of the supply chain in question or the full end to end supply chain. This is where we devote considerable time and effort to take a closer look at your business, to engage in discussions with relevant stakeholders and gather core data and/or information for further detailed analysis.

Evaluation phase

In the evaluation phase, we filter our learnings and remove perceptions by comparing actual performance data against best practice supply chains within your vertical. We follow a structured and methodical analysis process which is underpinned by facts and our “next steps solutions road map” has a high confidence level. Our supply chain assessment offers clients the opportunity to quality or validate their processes, practices, supply chain metrics and their supply chain technology solutions to support the business. Our aim is to identify performance gaps and build a “next steps solutions road map” on your strengths.

Our supply chain assessment can be applied to strategic, tactical and operational components of your business, such as:
  • Supply chain strategy, alignment to business strategy
  • Supply chain footprint, scale, size and location to support the supply chain network
  • Supply chain metrics and key performance indicators
  • Supply chain structure, resource competencies, retention and development
  • Supply chain functions, procurement, planning, inventory management, warehousing and distribution

Our supply chain assessment is fact based, structured, methodical and supported by experienced supply chain consultants who have worked for organisation in senior management positions and understand how a supply chain works in the real world. With this knowledge, our tools and the methods we apply, our “SCM Best practices data base” is constantly updated to provide a true comparison of actual versus best practice supply chains for your business. We leverage our improvement programs on the quality of this data and are confidence that your supply chain performance will improve in the years ahead.
